Harnessing the power of its trade and locale, Lloyd Construction crafts Idahoan havens. Nestled between miles of mountains in Ketchum, Idaho, is Lloyd Construction, a premier residential builder on a mission to enhance the heartland community it calls home. In the 1970s, David Lloyd’s father founded the company around the values of communication, loyalty, and craftsmanship.

Lloyd Construction officially opened in 1977 though
founder John Lloyd was working in construction long
before that. What started as a mom-and-pop operation
out of the family garage for him and wife Carolyn Lloyd
has now become son David’s operation.

Forty years later, John and Carolyn Lloyd have stepped aside from their leadership roles, and their son David is currently the president of Lloyd Construction. The general contracting firm specializes in luxury single-family homes, additions, and commercial projects.

The 8,300-square-foot home sitting under a hundred 50-foot aspens on the banks of the Big Wood River in Ketchum’s Northwood neighborhood isn’t just Sandra and Bob Swan’s dream home. It’s their “forever home.”But, rather than tear it down and build anew, the couple elected to have Lloyd Construction rebuild the interior.

Creating the perfect backdrop to gather four of the best builders in the Wood River Valley to talk about building trends, new products, and new projects in the area. David Lloyd of Lloyd Construction brought insight to the table about shifts happening in the Valley and what to look for in the coming season.

A LIFETIME OF BUILDING WITH INTEGRITY
Lloyd Construction’s stewardship of the build directly reflects the
years David spent learning his profession and the industry. He
first got involved in the company in grade school by picking up
scrap lumber around the job sites. David recalls that as a young
boy he enjoyed, “feeling as though I was contributing to the
family business and participating.

The teams we work with here, architects and designers alike, take extra care and consideration into integrating with the natural environment. They’ve mastered working in harmony with the local topography, using colors and textures that are unique to our landscape.
