John and Carolyn Lloyd move to Sun Valley and an idea is born.
John Lloyd started building and renovating homes in Sun Valley in the late 1960s as a way to earn additional income between seasons working as Ski Patrol and Forest Service Snow Ranger.
1977
John and Carolyn Lloyd officially open Lloyd Construction.
Together they put roots down in the valley, raising their children and growing a business. Their legacy of strengthening the Sun Valley community lives on through our work today.

The first Lloyd Construction Company office opens.
The original site was located at the end of the railroad line in what is known as the Ketchum Industrial Park today. Gone are the days of livestock transportation in this area, but our original office site still serves as a company workshop and storage facility to this day.

Lloyd Construction transitions from sole proprietorship to incorporated entity.
This transition allowed for company growth and greater organization of operations.

John Lloyd works hard at the local and state level to bring professional licensing to the construction industry in Idaho.
Lloyd Construction also named WRBCA Builder of the Year.
John Lloyd was instrumental in establishing professional licensing requirements for contractors in Idaho, which led to greater professionalism in the industry. The same year, Lloyd Construction was named Wood River Building Contractor Association (WRBCA) Builder of the Year.

John’s son, David, joins Lloyd Construction.
David began his construction career at an early age picking up debris from worksites to keep them clean. After college, David joined Lloyd Construction as a carpenter, honing his skills with numerous professional mentors and colleagues. In 2003, David became a partner and assumed a leadership role at the company.

Ian Sundby joins the Lloyd Construction team.
Ian grew up with David’s wife, Rachel, in Seattle and had an extensive background in luxury home building in the Pacific Northwest. After a Thanksgiving visit and a little convincing, Ian took the opportunity to put roots down in Sun Valley with his family and accepted an offer to join the Lloyd Construction team.

David Lloyd is elected to serve as President of the Wood River Valley Contracting Association.
David served as President through 2012 and also served on the Hailey, ID Planning and Zoning Commission during this time.

Lloyd Construction joins the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 20 Club.
