David Lloyd

A Lifetime of Building Community

Born and raised in Sun Valley, David Lloyd began learning his profession and the family business of building community from a young age. In grade school, he helped keep job sites neat by picking up scrap lumber, and worked throughout middle and high school honing his carpentry skills. “When I was a teen working as a carpenter, I was apprenticed to a mischievous master carpenter who regularly played practical jokes. It’s fun to look back on that time and reflect on how it shaped my career.”

After college, David returned to Idaho and officially joined Lloyd Construction as a carpenter taking on a leadership role in 2000. “My personal and professional growth has been exponential during my tenure as partner. Early in my career I joined a network of custom home builders. I’m deeply grateful for their collaboration and mentorship which has helped me become the best builder I can be for my clients and for the Sun Valley community I treasure.”

David’s life work can be summed up by his devotion to building community one home at a time. “It makes me truly happy to have long-lasting relationships with our clients. After more than 20 years, I have clients who continue to share their lives and famous Christmas coffee cake with us. Experiences like these remind me of the awe my parents felt when they arrived in Sun Valley and the legacy I am so proud to uphold.”

When not at work, David can usually be found scaling mountains or skiing down them. As an avid outdoorsman he enjoys spending time on the slopes with his wife, Rachel, and their two sons Thijs and Cody.
